How do I borrow a book?

We are operating a Request and Collect service. Browsing the library shelves is not possible until further notice.

If you would like to borrow a book please follow these instructions.

Placing an order

  1. Sign in to  FINDit Sign in using your University username and password. 
  2. Type in your search term.
  3. When you find the book you want - select Request Options: Request from a USW Library.
  4. You can have up to  25 books on your library account. You can request up to  10 books at a time through the request and collect service.
  5. Complete the online form, stating the campus you wish to collect from.
  6. Click on the Request button to complete your request.
  7. We will email you when they are ready to collect.
  8. Come to the campus to collect your books.
  9. A member of staff will give you your books (please remember to bring some form of ID).

    Due to track and trace restrictions, only the person making the appointment can come on campus to collect requests. If you can’t collect your requests please contact us and we can help make alternative arrangements for you.

Returning Books

Your books will automatically renew until you return them. Books can be returned to any campus library. Place your books in the book return box at the library entrance. You do not need to make a booking to return books. 

Treforest – external book drop at the library front door. Can be accessed at anytime

Glyntaff – external book drop at the library front door. Can be accessed at anytime

Newport - book drop opposite the reception desk on A Floor. Can be accessed 07.00-21.00 Mon -Fri and 09.00-17.00 Sat & Sun

Cardiff - by the library entrance. Can be accessed  08.00-22.00 Mon-Fri and 09.00-22.00 Sat & Sun

Note: If you have problems returning books please contact us. 

All books will be put in quarantine for 72 hours on return.  Please do not use antibacterial wipes or cleaning products on library books.
