Library Updates

USW Library is open online with lots of additional content and support .

The University has plans to reopen campus buildings. Any physical reopening of campus libraries  will be assessed using Government guidelines and any necessary health & safety measures  to ensure student and staff safety. We will provide further updates on how and when this will happen in advance of the Autumn term.

Library Services continues to support students library needs, so please contact us if you have any particular study or research requirements.

Graduating students- We have a FREEPOST service for graduating students to return their library books. Please contact us for details.

Students continuing their studies -  Our physical campus libraries remain closed, so please stay safe and keep your books with you . Any queries please contact us.



Access to our resources online 

  • You can access e-books, e-journals and databases via FINDit 24/7
  • You can search for online journal articles using FINDit
  • Access our databases directly 
  • If you need help with using FINDit contact your librarian or watch these short films
  • Bob - TV and Radio - International students enrolled at UK universities but currently continuing their studies overseas, can temporarily access the BBC News Channel via BoB, with programmes such as Panorama, Coronavirus Daily Update and HARDtalk.  This extension of access outside the UK will continue again, through to the end of September 2020.
  • Links to electronic resources for your modules are available through your module 
    reading lists on Blackboard


Access to print resources

  • All print resources are temporarily unavailable.

Study Support


Borrowing and Requesting

  • Items out on loan will not need to be returned, due dates will be changed automatically for you. 
  • No fines will be charged
  • All recalls/requests have been suspended
  • Interlibrary loans (British Library) it is unlikely that we can fulfil requests for books.
    We will continue to try to supply articles
  • Any current BL loans will be automatically renewed
  • SCONUL Access Scheme is temporarily suspended
