Diversity Curators

Volunteers needed

We are looking for a group of 20 student volunteers to form a team of Diversity Curators.

Here at Library Services we are seeking your help to promote and enhance the library collections. We would like this team to highlight resources that celebrate diversity and foster inclusivity.

The aims for this group are:

  • To decide a theme (or themes) that highlight diversity, inclusivity and hidden voices.
  • To create a display around that theme - or themes - (either a physical display at all of our campus libraries and/or an online display) by the end of January 2023.

You will be expected to spend around 1.5 hours a week on this project.

This project is student-led, but you will have support from experienced librarians, including initial training and guidance.

The skills you will gain by becoming a Diversity Curator:

This project will give you the opportunity to learn and practice the following skills:

  • Team working
  • Project management (including arranging meetings, setting deadlines, and looking after budgets)
  • Creativity (as you will create displays, posters and digital materials for promotion)
  • Digital skills
  • Research skills
  • Library experience

  • The closing date for applications will be Monday, 17th of October 2022. If you have any questions about this project, please contact the Librarians leading this initiative: Sian Chaney-price, Gill Edwardes, Jose Lopez Blanco

  • Students from all levels and disciplines are welcome!
