New Library Ambassadors

News - Library news icon

The Library has employed four student Library Ambassadors (one for each campus). These will be involved in all things library, including helping students with any queries that they may have when in the library. If you are having trouble finding a book, have a question about any of our services, or want to know how to make an appointment with your librarian, then keep a look out for a fellow student in a red hoodie who will be happy to help.

Thursday 10:00 - 14:00 Newport Campus

Why I applied for the position:

I love the USW library. The resources on offer are amazing, from books and journals to online databases, as well as pc's and electronic loans - not to mention the specialist knowledge of the subject librarians. When the role of library ambassador became available, I jumped at the chance to spend some extra time in one of my favourite places on campus and to share my love of the library with others. I was excited to represent the student voice within the library and offer support to other students so that they can make the most of the amazing resources the library has to offer.

What I hope to achieve:

Whilst working as a library ambassador, I hope to share my love of the library with other students, helping them to feel confident in accessing the resources the library has to offer and to enrich their learning experience.

Tuesday 12:00 - 16:00 Cardiff Campus

Why I applied for the position:

I applied for the Library Ambassador position because I see the value of the library space and services, and want to help other students benefit from those opportunities. As an international student, I found the library a welcoming environment to work on assignments, meet with friends, and of course - utilize the extensive collection of books! Assisting in the marketing of the library services also greatly interested me, as I felt it would provide me with a chance to put what I have learned from my course to work, right here on campus.

What I hope to achieve:

During my time as Library Ambassador, I hope to be able to help students make use of Cardiff Campus Library offerings and encourage them to take advantage of the chance to not only borrow materials, but meet with their librarians, get to know databases, and attend special events. I also look forward to helping promote these features through the USW social media accounts.

Wednesday 11:00 - 15:00 Treforest Campus

Why I applied for the position:

I applied for this role to become more involved in the USW community. Finally settling in Wales and establishing a home away from home, I saw this role as an opportunity to meet people from all walks of life. I've always been social and have a flair for helping people, so I thought this was the ideal way to combine the two. In addition to assisting others, I believe that this role will offer me valuable tools that will help me in other aspects of my life, such as teamwork.

What I hope to achieve:

My goals for my time as a library ambassador I aim to assist the library crew in promoting the diverse range of services they offer, because you never know who might need them! Most importantly, be a welcoming face and provide a stress-free environment for any student in need.
